Women with disabilities, in particular, have a unique experience with the levels of corruption, due in part to the relationship between disability and poverty. They face double discrimination, firstly, due to their gender as women, and secondly due to their disability. Due to the myriad of challenges faced by women with disabilities such as cultural practices and myths that are discriminatory and harmful, stigma and discrimination, including an invisibility in policies and programming which lead to a lack of access to social amenities such as education, employment, healthcare among others.

Due to the myriad of challenges faced by women with disabilities such as cultural practices and myths that are discriminatory and harmful, stigma and discrimination, including an invisibility in policies and programming which lead to a lack of access to social amenities such as education, employment, healthcare among others. The consequences of the negative impact of corruption at county and national governments on women and girls with disabilities and its adverse effects is experienced in a variety of ways, as a result of the reduced investments and ineffective social protection and accountability measures. To counter this, This Ability Trust has focused her work to enable and ensure the participation of women with disabilities in the fight against corruption. The need for diverse voices, representing the holistic face of our society is key in ensuring everyone is represented and is an effective strategy in complementing existing civic efforts. Diversity and inclusion ensures that we are innovating and tailoring solutions that target the needs within the society. The focus of our work has been to amplify the voices of women with disabilities, build partnerships with other civil society organizations and create visibility for the rights of women and girls with disabilities.
